I have used a dry shampoo now and again for years, I always use baptiste, but know what you mean about the residue, however it does wash out, unlike the flaming hairspray!

I bought some of the TIGI stuff yesterday on ebay for £5.45 so I am happy with that price, was £10 in my salon.

What is the name of the Bumble and Bumble stuff?? Sounds interesting but I cant get my head around the colour you mention???

Bumble and Bumbles stuff is called hair powder. It comes in blondeish, brown and red. It does seem to blend really easily- as I say, I have red coloured hair (naturally blonde- got sick of the blonde 'jokes') but whatever shade of red I go, the spray still seems to cover my roots and blend in really well (and I change the tone of the red every time I dye it- I get v.bored v.easily!!) so I can rate it for its blending qualities.

I know that you can get it in Selfridges and Space NK (where you could ask to test it if your at all unsure- it is alot of money, like £27:eek:) and several internet stores, do a google-search on "bumble and bumble", its one of their best selling products so most stores that sell their range will also have the hair powder.

Just don't go for the small can- costs too much! the larger can is like 4 times the size for X2 of the price of the small one and lasts for much longer.

I use the Boots (green tin) hairspray, firm hold. I have really fine hair too & haven't found anything close to as good as this one. Also if you're gonna go for Tigi stuff check out TJ Hughes. I buy Superstar from there at 1/3 of the price my hairdresser charges. Charles Worthington does a really good build up cleansing shampoo that i find makes a huge difference for my hair & finally (lol) I buy a protein spray from Regis that's made a massive difference to my hair. It doesn't look or feel nearly as fine as what it used too, only draw back is it costs £16 a time, but it lasts for a good few weeks & is SO worth it! :) xxx

I'm a hairdresser so may have a small solution. You could be spraying to close to your hair. When you go to was it put the shampoo on dry hair and rub in then wet and lather it, this should break the hairspray down quicker and then it should come out better.
    Hope I have helped.

I tried this the other day, and whilst it didnt remove all the white residue, it removed a lot more than just a normal wash would have done, so thanks so much for this. I will continue to do this when it builds up.

I am going to the hairdressers on saturday for colour and cut (the only thing which gets rid of it all completely so yey!!)

  • I always use Bristows.... Dark pink can, although it is quite cheap (less than a pound) it's the only one I have found that dosen't leave a residue in my hair and brushes out easily. I can usually get it in Wilkinsons, Home & Bargain, and Netto. I agree Elnett is terrible. (I am a female despite my log in name!!)

My mum uses this and swears by it.

    Debt-free and Proud!
Ohh I had this problem a couple of years ago, as I was a dedicated buyer of Safeways Own Brand, so was gutted when my supplies ran out. I asked around to find out what other people used and came up with L'oreal Studio Line Fixing Spritz.

Its usually about £2.80 a bottle, but is always on offer in Tesco or Morrisons, (got some in Tesco last week for £1.39)

Its a wet hairspray, rather then the aerosole type, if you know what I mean, but I wouldnt use anything else now.
Debt free since July 2013! Woo hoo! The bank actually laughed when I said I have come in to cancel my overdraft.

My hair has got thinner over the years, with very little body to hold a style. The only spray which keeps mine in place is Tresemme Freeze Hold. When I wash it there are no white bits left! It's £3.99 for the largest size but lasts absolutely ages.

I too have fine fly away hair and the best one that I have found - after spending a fortune trying LOADS of others - is VO5 extreme hold. I buy it in Wilkinsons- couple of quid I think.

I have fine AND straight, greasy hair.
I have been using Elnet firm hold and that has been O.K., but would also like something to help reduce the grease problem. I do have a permanent colour on my hair, so don't want anything to strip the colour.
