Things to do in Birmingham

Can anyone let me know of any day trips in Birmingham?

We are two adults, but love animals and things like that. We have been to the Cadbury’s factory, so don’t want to do that again and we are also vesting West Midlands Safari Park. WE are going at the beginning of October and have a spare day, so would be grateful of any ideas / advice?

Thanks in advance. :o

    Sealife centre ,?

or how about The Birmingham Botanical gardens .

Stratford upon Avon isnt too far away .. lots to do there

nice walks around the canal system in Birmingham (havnt done this myself )
but believe it is quite pleasant .

    have a nice day Jazz
  • Thanks for this. I've just had a look at Sea Life Centre, might be worth a go, although it does seem quite expensive for a sea life centre which is normally only quite small.

I'll take another look at the others, but Stratford-upon-avon sounds good. My geography is rubbish and unless i can convince my partner that its only 'round the corner' i could get him to take me lol

    Thanks again

    Hi msy !

why dont you see if there are any money saving coupons for the sealife centre on the voucher /discount forum. There are always deals to be had
Im sure someone would be able to tell you where to get a deal if you posted there
My geographt is terrible too ,ha ha ,but it is easily viable to go Stratford from Birmingham and back again in a day.

    regards Jazz

There are often 2 for 1 vouchers available for the sea-life centre (think Tesco's are giving them out at the tills at the mo). Alternatively, Warwick Castle is about the same distance as Stratford or the Black Country Museum is quite interesting.

You could see whats on at the NEC at that time. Some good exhibitions there. Definitely look for vouchers for sealife centre they are always available some nice places to eat near there so would be a nice day out.

You could catch the train at Moor Street or Snow Hill for Stratford, takes about an hour, lots of local stops! Nice journey thru and the trains run one an hour.

Warwick is a nice day out too, less of a journey about 30mins, I would advise taking the train to both these places rather than the bus. It should be easy getting a two for one for Warwick Castle, its normally on the same offer as the sealife centre.

If you like your art, there is a very good place to visit. Lots of impressionist which I like. http://www.barber.org.uk/There is also a very good selection of pre raphaelite art at the main art gallery.

I've just discovered the black country museum and I have to admit I love it! The fish and chips are the best in the world thru you haveto queue to get 'em.
If you go by train you can take advantage of this offer.

But if ever I stray from the path I follow
Take me down to the English Channel
Throw me in where the water is shallow And then drag me on back to shore!
'Cos love is free and life is cheap As long as I've got me a place to sleep
Clothes on my back and some food to eat I can't ask for anything more
  • Birmingham.....

Stratford is really not far away and the trains there are regular. Although I like Birmingham and there is lots to do there... I like the Sealife Centre, agree is expensive, there is an art gallery and museum with pre-raphaelites in.. that is by the town hall.. and there is another art gallery part of Birmingham Uni if you are driving.. the barber Institute. The jewellry Quarter is worth a look around.. shopping and taking a look at the new bullring selfridges building, lovely to walk around by the canals, Aston Hall.. that's possible without a car but would take some looking into.
