Does home insurance cove this!

I have buildings and contents insurance with Countrywide insurance services based in Northampton.
My living room has damp coming from my floorboards and joists which are crumbling away and will need replacing.
I have read from front to back and again to see if i am covered for this but it doesnt mention nothing about it, and it says nothing in the 'you are not covered' section about this so i dont know what to do.
Just wondered if anyone has some experiance with this type of claim or advice.
Many Thanks, Ian

What is the cause of the damp? If it is the result of an incident, (burst pipe, flood etc), then you will be covered.
But not if it is the result of poor/no maintenance.0 -
no floods or leaks, just noticed when taking the laminate floor up that the floorboards were not looking too good, took one off near the front door and the joist are a bit crumbly, sounds an expensive job, thats why im hoping im covered..0

No, this is caused by damp or rot, which is a gradualy operating cause. There will be an exclusion for any damage caused by gradualy operating causes.0

d'oh, not good then. does this mean ill have to dip into my own pocket then? thought building insurance was just for that aswell, as its affecting the building structure if left surely.0
