Hi,
I got a sofa in sept 05, actually finish paying for it in august this year. when i signed the paperwork I knew there was a free for a year insurance cover on it but i didnt realise i was going to be paying for for the rest of the term. I have existing medical problems that would of not been covered anyway. also a year and a half after purshasing the sofa i had to have a few months off work due to an eptopic pregnancy, i obv didnt claim as i was unaware i had it, consumer credit have wrote )back after originally saying no and me asking them to reassess or i would take it to the next stage) requesting that i send them confirmation off pre existing medical problems from doctor/hospital. I believe that it would cost me £10 to get this from doctors, is that normal practice for the customer to obtain this?? any advice would be great
thanks....

Hi there
Sorry to hear of your health issues, hope things are better for you now.;)
So you have already wrote to them by reclaiming then?
I would contact your GP's surgery and ask for a price as I am aware they vary.
Its probably a stalling tactic as well. but keep on at them, let us know when you require help with this, but contact the surgery first, ask for a price, good luck.;)
Your surgery may have a website, mine have and the charges may be shown on their site.
If you don't require all the information, just tell them you require some information in regards of insurance case, and only on those certain dates, because I would not pass on everything to the finance company, only of that time when you were ill with dates. The one and only "Dizzy Di"

Normally retrospective requests for medical data is paid by the insurere as they have an agreed fee with the ABI, you have the right to see what the doctor writes. then they must hold it for months i beleive0 -

Thanks for this CC.;)
Unfortunately in regards of a Sickness claim when hubby was off sick from work, we had to pay about £25 for the information they required, so maybe this varies from what is requested.
This was not repaid by the insurers either.

just to give an update on the ppi miss sell,
I got letter from doctors confirming pre medical conditions, sent a copy of it as i had been asked to, along with invoice for £16 (fee for doctors letter) and I have now got a reply saying that although they did not miss sell the product they are willing to clear my the rest of my payments and close down the account as a matter of goodwill. I only have july and august left on it, from a 4 year contract. i checked the paperwork and it states that the cost of credit cover is £260.54 interestcharged on credit cover premium £ 232.27 total cost of premium £492.81 this has been added to the cost of the sofafrom the begining, should i write back and state that iwant the 492.81 back.0 -

Hi there
Glad you got a response.;)
Now this is entirely up to you, you can try if you want to,
Write before you make a definate decision on the offer are they a willing to refund the £492.81.
You have supplied the information they required and this confirms your medical condition, I take it this is all they were asking for, so really by you doing this you have obliged and provided the evidence they wanted, so in my opinion it should be the full amount.
You can wait to see what others say if you want to, because this is just my own personal opinion.
Whatever you decide to do good luck.
Also to make you aware that there is always the Financial ombudsman service (FOS) you would be entitled to take this to, if they don't resolve in your favour, but unfortunately there is quite a wait, and you may not think it will be worth it, but its your choice hun.
You do what you feel is best, but you do have a good reason to request the whole lot back.
Even though they have also stated they will close the account down, this seems like a rather reasonable offer as well.;)The one and only "Dizzy Di"

thanks,
yes the doctors letter was all they wanted, in the response i got it stated that all though i would not of been able to claim under my pre medical problems, that the other benefits would of still been claimable i.e death and unemployment so it was not miss sold, on the demands and needs states that the customer has been fully advised of the cover policies and meets all of their needs, this clearly didnt happen in this case. the value of them closing my account down is approx £110 -2 months payments. that is a lot less than £492, i think i will go for the full amount. should i write and ask them if they will pay me the full amount.0 -
