Central Heating

Hi Guys,

We have a 3 bed 1950's end terrace, currently heated with storage heaters. We're looking to upgrade to a central heating system and have only so far received a quote from British Gas. For a combi boiler and 9 rads (3 doubles as downstairs is more open plan), they've come up with £6000.

I've appointments for 3 more quotes yet but I was just wondering if anyone knows if this is a realistic figure or otherwise.

We have yet to be connected aswell, so there's the outlay of a £800+vat for connection on top of any quote.

Cheers

Good morning: Price is dependent on your location in the UK and the specification of installation (eg. make and model of boiler, rads, TRVs and controls, powerflush, Boiler Buddy/Magnaclean/Spirovent ,scale inhibitor, flueing requirements, condensate waste disposal etc). If you post the details of the quote we'll have more to go on.

    whoa! :D

erm, i'll scan it when I'm home. I'm not sure if he over specced me. He planned for the boiler in the loft to save room in the kitchen, but that involved making the loft more serviceable for an engineer, so i think a little unnecessary. We're based near Rugby, Warkwickshire.

dammit. I can't post the scan as I have too few posts. Anyone have any idea how many I need to post an image?

Hi...don't know what the requirement is but could you upload to a hosting site and put the link in your next post?

It's stopping me linking within a post, they say to prevent spam. It kind of encourages spam though so I can get to a count where I can post a link/pic.

Or, to put it another way ensuring all rules and regulations are observed which are mostly there to protect the health and safety of the installer, householder and servicing engineers. Bah, red tape eh?
