Resigned

I had a dispute with my employer & resigned from my p/t job about 6 weeks ago. I thought I would be able to get something reasonably quickly but nothing has happened so I think I'll have to "sign on" I've never done this before, don't even know what it's officially called! (I'm 55, single parent worked all my life, but have some savings. Can anyone give me any advice. Thanks.

As you've given up a job voluntarily you could be sanctioned from claiming Job Seekers Allowance for up to 26 weeks.

you need to call your local job centre and discuss signing on. longer you leave it, the longer it is until you get any financial help. some make you go in, some do a telephone asssessment.

    please do it today.
