Commuter Parking at Peterborough

Think I've found out something myself.0

There are 2 car parks at Peterborough that belong to the station.
The main car park (to the left of the station as you approach it next to burnt down British Transport Police house) can get full anytime between 8:00 and 8:30 in the morning. Sometimes you can be lucky (like half term week) but normally if you are there after 8:30 you are going to struggle.
But there is the overflow car park (take the roundabout by the firestation) which is limited to season ticket holders until after 8:45 at which point it is open to all.
I have never failed to get a space in this car park when catching a later off peak train.
BUT
If you are going for the wonderful 8:51 London train, forget it.
The 1st car park will be full and the other one does not open until 8:45 and it is impossible to enter the carpark bang on 8:45, park up and get to the platform in 6 minutes.
As for other parking.
The Queensgate car parks are now open until 10pm and indeed actually have season tickets for commuters in the car park closest to the station however if you are in them for more than 9 hours they are a lot more expensive (£16+) than the official National Express ones (£12)
If you have found a workable alternative, please share this info because at £12 it soon gets expensive.0 -
Many thanks for the reply. I was thinking that my post was going to disappear down the threads never to be seen again!
More than likely I would be at the car park before 8am to ensure I got into work on time. The overflow car park would be useful but it's unlikely I would be there after 8:45am and I don't really think I can justify £1,200 on top of my rail season ticket for one for the car park!! I did find out that Peterborough council charges around £700 annually for Monday to Friday parking in several of its car parks but maybe they aren't as convenient.
As regards Queensgate I've heard there is a waiting list for season tickets of several months. Not sure if that is true or not though. In fact, I've also heard there is a waiting list for season tickets at the rail station car parks. Again, this info may be out of date.0 -
If you are going to be there before 8 on a weekday, I don't think you are going to have much of a problem finding a space.0

Ok many thanks again. Of course, if the service from Stamford (where I am considering moving to) was more frequent I wouldn't need to worry about car parks!0
