Turkey is having a lot of problems at the momeny so not the best place to start. You are not going alone you are going with the kids.
Where you want to go depends on you, luxor is nice and cheap.Barclaycard 3800

I have had a couyple of holidays alonw with the kids over the years and thoroughly enjoyed them.
Last October I went (oops without kids) to Olundeniz near Fethiye and it was excellent weather wise as well as cost, I had been the year before in Aug with children and found the prices had come down considerabley.
My only concern for Turkey is the turks can be rather hands on with the kids, my youngest wasn't happy, he was 11 at the time. Eldest was 14 and he never got any bother, this was height of the season though. When we went in October it was far quieter and peopel I spoke to with kids said it was a lot calmer then.
If you go to the coast there isn't any bother.
Been to Cyprus at that time of year too and that was great although places are closing down, so in my experience stay closer to the resort!Panda xx

I'd say go for it!!!!!!!!
The experience and fun you'll have will far outweigh any doubts and you'll always be wondering if you could have done it.
When my kids were 3 & 5, I booked a 2 week holiday to Ibiza by myself with them. I'd never been abroad without another adult, I was really scared when my sister dropped me off at the airport, I was in sheer panic mode thinking oh my god what have I done!!! It soon passed once we arrived, we checked into our hotel, had a good look around and went to the new arrival meeting, where I booked us on a couple of trips. I made friends with other people, my lads did too and were happy playing by the pool everyday. We went out for a meal every evening and when I'd put them to bed, I helped my self to a large duty free and read a good book sat on the balcony. The holiday was fantastic, it showed me I didn't need to rely on anyone else to show me or my kids a good time, it made me more independent and I think a stronger person for the experience. We all remember it as a fantastic holiday and if you get over the first hurdle of doing it once, there'll be no stopping you!!
I hope you do it

I took my children to Marmaris on my own a few years back. They were 8 and 12 and thoroughly enjoyed it. October might be a bit "out of season" - we went in Sept and things were getting quieter. My daughter had white/blonde hair at the time and attracted A LOT of attention, which she didn't like!
The reason I choose Turkey was for them to see another culture. Marmaris is about as touristy as you can get, but when you get out of the town we were very aware that the style of the buildings, the history, religion, dress and way of life was very different."Cheap", "Fast", "Right" -- pick two.0 -
If you go anywhere in Turkey or Egypt, be aware that they love children, especially little blonde children and will payn them a lot of attention! My aunt and uncle took their daughter to Egypt when she was around 10 (shes a little blonde!) and the people were fawning over her, trying to give her gifts and allsorts!
Although I would also be wary of such countries at the moment with so much unrest - TBH I'd be wary of taking small children a lot of places right now, though a holiday abroad would be wonderful for them. If you want somewhere hot but safe, try Cantabria in Spain - a lovely region

I am also a lone parent. I have taken my daughter to Cyprus several times and would thoroughly recommend it to a single parent. We initially went simply because my parents live there part of the year. I have found it a quiet, safe place to be on my own with my daughter. My parents are now selling the house, but dd and I love it and will go back. We have always been to the resort of Protaras which is a real family resort and not far from the busier Aiya Napa if your children like big fair grounds.0

Don't be afraid of going on hols alone with the 2 chil;dren. Mine and 9 & 6, and I quite often take them away - I have oppertunity for more time off than my hubby, and so I take them away a couple of times a year - just the three of us, whilst he stays at home wokring! It's great!0
