Festival Survival Kit ideas

  • just don't forget that she is going have to carry/lug all this stuff a very long way from car park to find a place to camp - don't overload her with too much stuff! I never bother to wash my hair when at a festival, a nice hat would be better a more fitting with the festival look.
I was fascinated at the last Glastonbury I went to and saw people queuing to wash their hair (underneath a big Water Aid "conserve water" sign)!

My festival tip is some kind of duct tape, (i use fragile tape tbh) and tape up your pockets!
When im jumping around in a crowd at any gig/festival i stress ill lose my phone or all my cash so i run a roll of tape round my pocketsa few times and its sorted :)

Sounds dumb but it works, and i often get complimented on my fragile tape belt! :)

PS, im jealous of your sister XD i wanted to go lol

My younger sister is going to Leeds Festival in August. As this is her first festival I wanted to make a kind of survival kit for her to take. I was wondering if anyone had any ideas of what to put in, so far I have: -
    disposable toilet seat covers
    wet wipes
    paracetamol
    plasters
    sun cream
    energy drink
    safety pins

I don't mind if things are practical or jokey - just need some more stuff. Thanks in advance.

Blastise dry shampoo...sorry I don't know how to spell it but I've always found it to be a lifesaver at reading festival! Especially the tropical scent one, just makes you feelbetter.

I've picked up a few excellent tips on here... thanks! Not going to a festival but going to an all-day outdoor gig which will necessitate being there from 6 in the morning  to get a decent place to stand, and then will be standing for hours. Its (allegedly) going to be very hot so I've made my own little survival kit which might be helpful?
I have bought a small plastic pump action spray bottle which, filled with water, could be used for a multitude of things - cooling down if its hot, to drink from if desperate, to freshen up hair etc... I also have deodorant wipes (again, easier if it's hot to use than a spray) I bought a plastic rain mac in case it rains from Poundland for a quid.... and one of those bottles of hand sanitiser, have seen loads of them in the pound shops (Im a nurse in a hospital so Im paranoid about germs anyway) :D
Definitely aftersun or some sort of cooling lotion as well as suncream - trust me, as someone who got first-degree burns at a summer gig once  its definitely advisable. You can get smaller bottles from Boots, Superdrug etc and it was the first thing I put in my 'kit' for the gig....

For serious camping my favourite tip is to carry salt, usually in a camera film tub.
salt is essential if you over heat (or over drink) and sprinkled on cuts and scratches or used in water makes a powerful antiseptic. I was told by a doctor most antiseptic has to be mild to be safe, and safe is much more powerful than most.

Anyway, I use it after gardening/paintballing/etc and I still have 8 fingers and 9 toes.

And before anyone asks - thats not on each hand!!!

We went to Leeds festival donkeys years ago and the most useful thing we took was a good torch. Falling over tents in the dark is not fun, well unless you're drunk that is :)
Like everyone else has said, I'd also take, wet wipes, loo roll, plastic bottle for water, sun cream, hat, really warm sleeping bag - gawd it's cold at night!!! plenty of snacks. Comfy sturdy shoes, boring, but you spend a lot of time standing up. Waterproofs, something waterproof to sit on or folding chair in a bag.
We went to Glastonbury in 1997 it was sooooo blardy muddy, everything got wet and v.v.v.muddy but we'd left some clean clothes in the car, when we got to first services on way home to change into clean clothes and use clean toilets was heaven!!!

From what I can tell from mountain rescue members/campers/army lads/etc head torches are the new thing. Not necessarily cheap for good ones but very handy (plus you should not get lost in a crowd and you can set them to flash for that 90 rave scene look!)

Top tip is if you are going to use it often get highly rated batteries (something like 2200mah [i think]) rechargeable and save money/planet etc. DONT get a cheap torch unless it has a back up. Also go for LED rather than bulb as its just better in every way

Thanks, some more really good ideas. She has all the practical things like wellies, torches, sleeping bags and camping equipment. I am just getting all the little extras that she will no doubt forget about!!
Does anyone know where I can get the dry shampoo from other than Tesco?
