lose wingmirror

I was cleaning my car today with a friend earlier when she accidently stepped back into the passanger wingmirror. When this happened it made a clicking noise and the mirror had come lose. It is only the black bit which has cracked a bit I think. How much roughly will this cost to fit it is a ford fiesta mk4?

If it's the left one you don't legally need it anyway (so long as you have a rear view mirror in the middle). I'd imagine it's relatively easy to DIY, find one in a scrappy and it shouldn't break the bank. If you can get the mirror off in the scrappy then you know how to replace it too :beer:0

I I don't think I was very clear , what I mean is the black pplastic casing has come lose from the car. The actual mirror is fine. Sorry for spelling mistakes I'm using my phone0

I doubt I can fix it myself where would I go to get this job done?0

If by black bit you mean the bit the mirror attaches to (between mirror and car) it's probably easier to replace the lot. To replace the mirror generally you remove a bit of trim inside the door (which may need the adjuster knob removing first) and then you have access to the bits that hold the mirror on. A Haynes manual should clarify the appropriate procedure.0

As stated above you don't legally need it, however if fitted it must work, so if going down that route you'd need to completely remove the mirror and fill up the hole (gaffer tape is good for this)
From your description I'm guessing the mirror is hanging off to some degree, so I would probably just push it back into place and wrap it up in gaffer tape, so long as it's secure it'll be fine and will pass an MOT no problem.
Failing that, go with a scrapyard mirror, most scrapyards these days will take it off the car for you, and if you're not confident about putting it on yourself find a local independent garage to do it. Around here they'd probably only charge a tenner, but if you live in the south east or something it'll probably be a lot more.0 -

if you don't want to visit a vehicle reclaimers, there are loads of people breaking cars on ebay who can supply you with a mirror.
is your mirror surround colour-coded? if not, i would expect to pay about £20 maximum for a salvaged mirror for a car of that age..

You're going to have to replace it anyway in that case, so in the meantime may was well tape it up rather than risk a pedantic copper pulling you over for it.
Depends on how bad the damage is, of course, can you post a picture?0 -
Sorry it is actually on the drivers side I forgot which way round I parked LOL. It isn't hanging off it is still fine to use just not as solid as it was0
