    Running out of fuel is only an offence in certain European countries.

    It's not a legal requirement to carry a spare, but breakdown companies may be able to charge you if you fail to carry a serviceable spare.

    The charges for running out of fuel or the flat tyre with no spare aren't over the top, bearing in mind it's illegal to do these things on a Motorway, and presumably on other fast roads.


    So what about the new cars that don't come with a spare?
