Sky TV - pink screen?

Just spoken to my mother who told me that my dad was driven demented last night and pressing every button on the TV and Sky Remotes.....

Apparently when the TV is tuned into Sky - all they can see is a pink screen?! However, the Sky remote still works for the volume on the telly?

Is the Sky box on its last legs, or is there something that can be done? They're no longer Sky customers, just using the box to access the Free-Sat channels?

Thanks in advance for any advice

it'll probably be a loose scart connection on the back of the sky box or tv

Ok, will check the scart cable connections out.

DH also has a theory connected with Sky viewing cards that are being renewed at the moment? Given that my folks aren't currently customers, will they get a new card?

Only those with a current subscription or those who have had a FreesatFromSky install within the last 3 years will get a new card.

Those who have a cancelled subscription and use the card to view the Free-to-View channels will not get a new card.

To be honest, the only channels the card gives you is Sky 3, FIVER and FIVE US. FIVE can be added manually into the 'Other Channels' section.

Great loss then.. :D All of those channels can be received on a Freeview Receiver anyway.. ;)

hi i am having the same problem never in the last year and a half have i had anything wrong with the box i have cancelled my subscription and now been watching free to air for the last 9 days 2 days ago we started getting a pink tint on the whole screen i had to remove the power lead and fiddle the scart then put the power lead back in before i got it to work ive been searching the internet and found that when you cancel your subscription the box no longer gets updates for the software so you have to force the box to do a update to sort the glitch out if this doesnt work then i sugest that you get intouch with sky and tell them the problem they might have some sort off answer giving its happening to more than one of us:confused::mad:

The pink tint problem is almost certainly a faulty scart lead

Utter tosh, as long as a Sky Receiver is plugged in and left on or in standby mode, it will receive software updates, it does mot require a subscription.

As stated above, the " pink tinge " is almost certainly down to a loose or faulty scart lead.
