You claim - 'dont tell me its wrong just because it doesnt match yours', this is regarding opinions. However, you are happy to tell others they are wrong. Why is this so Mr Two Face?0
-
Your opinions are not wrong Mr templar for opinions are one persons perspective and even if factually wrong you are still entitled to hold those opinions, nor do i tell you they are wrong i merely question the suitability and relevance, (to say nothing of helpfulness) of repeatedly hijacking consumer forum discussions to preach your moral opinions to others.
I don't totally agree with people opportunistically challenging agreements that are perfectly fair simply because a document can not be produced but the law says this is the case and it does so to help those in trouble that are victim to some of the more questionable lenders and contractual terms, so i support these laws.
Some people will come here for advice simply because they are chancers, some will come for advice because they were p1ss poor and in desperation took out a loan to buy Christmas presents for their children from "knuckle duster loans" because they didn't know how to explain that Santa never brought them anything and now have some scumbag trying to throw them and their kids out on the street so that they can get their £2,000 plus charges by repossessing their home. And many, many, more will come here for advice for hundreds of reasons spanning the huge spectrum of those two opposite extremes.
I just question what gives you the right to appoint your self judge and jury over these people and decide they are all debt dodging scum bags that's all?0 -
Saturday's BBC4 Moneybox had a piece on writing off debt and it included a bit from Martin. His opinion may come as a shock to some people on these boards. It can be listened to through the BBC homepage

The same thing that gives you the right to judge people you know nothing about....................................NOTHING!!
POINT MADE I THINK
Actually, your "point" demonstrates that everyone, even those from the "moral crusader brigade" (of which I am happy to be a member), has an equal right to voice an opinion as this is a public forum.
I just knew as soon as I saw this thread that you would be along shortly to shout others down and leap to the defence of the OP.
Do you start these threads yourself just so that you can practice your "crusader" skills?
Please remember, we can all post on an internet open forum and individuals may hold differing opinions to you - accept it as a fact of life - if it really winds you up that much then don't read the comments.
Let it wash over you, it's all part of life's great tapestry - not everyone will always agree with you but, as this is a free country, that should not prevent them from expressing those views.
Regards

But why let anthing get in the way of a good old bit of self righteous moral preaching.. eh crusaders??
Little wonder when we see posts like this below.I've had 5 Credit Cards and Loans made unenforceable through the courts, going back upto 3 years ago, so I guess you could say I was one of the first to do so. I am awaiting an appeal on a further Card. I also have 2 others threatening Court Action. In all I will have evaded paying nearly 40k.
It totally SMACKS of 'wont pay'....rather than 'cant pay'.Some people will come here for advice simply because they are chancersin desperation took out a loan to buy Christmas presents for their children from "knuckle duster loans" because they didn't know how to explain that Santa never brought them anything and now have some scumbag trying to throw them and their kids out on the street so that they can get their £2,000 plus charges by repossessing their home0 -
Woody, from your post it appears that you agree with me that the laws which allow unenforceability challenges have a purpose to help those in serious trouble where it might not be totally their fault, lenders do mislead people and act disgracefully at times.
And i would agree with you, and the moral objectors, that those who abuse the system are wrong, they should repay all of the money if the agreement was fair. After all if their actions lead to a change in the law it only makes things worse for those in serious trouble who have one possible glimmer of hope snuffed out.
but i think in these consumer forums we should not attack people for raising this issue or asking questions, if i spot a post started by someone who sounds like a chancer i will choose not to offer my advise, but i would not attack them as being a chancer and personally abuse them, as i may be wrong about them, who knows, in any case who am i to judge, let alone condemn somebody.
To personally attack somebody or somebody's character is against the fundamental rules of these forums and should not be encouraged, if you have strong views and would like to voice them why not have a debate over on the debate boards and not attack individuals who come here looking for help in order to express those views??0 -
I think you are both right,i do agree that the "santa" loans scenario is why this wasbought in ,but there are the wont pay brigade like Stebiz who is just using it.He claims to have several properties but wont go bankrupt because they would be taken,by doing it this way he gets to avoid a 40K bill and keep houses in his name.Is this right?TO FINISH LAST, FIRST YOU HAVE TO FINISH....0

Cyril82, you come across as a complete jackass.
There is no point in you venturing on your own opinionated moral crusade with your inane YAAWNNN'S showing a complete intolerance to anyone else's opinion.
You need to respect that this is an OPEN forum, free for anyone to post and give their opinion.
If you don't like it, ignore it.
Some of your posts are shockingly disrespectful calling people all manner of names.
Or are you the self appointed ruler of MSE??Beware of imitations e.g. Robert Sterling0 -
Spot on RObert, i salute you sir.0
