I'm hoping to travel to New York this summer and the price hike between now and then has left me GRRRR.
Is there any way I can get to New York cheaply in August?

Aer Lingus and kuwait airways are sometimes cheaper, but don't fly every day of the week so you may need to go to their website and look at the timetables.Posts are not advice and must not be relied upon.0

icelandair.co.uk can have good rates0

I went to NY in early Sept 2004 - cost £800!!!! (6 nights in Manhattan)
I went back to NY earlier this month - cost about £400 (6 nights in Manhattan)
My advice - change your plans and go Jan - March. Much cheaper - more spending money!!!!!0 -
Air India sometimes do good deals ex London. Consider also travelling from AMS or CDG that can be cheaper too (including the fare across)Timmay!0

I was looking at going to NYC at the end of August (bank holiday weekend).
Just checked on a couple of websites for some pretty reasonable prices (example here: leave Thursday 24 August, return Sunday 27 August) - prices include tax:
https://www.ba.com £415 - if enter some rough dates you can select +/- 14 days and see which days are cheapest.
https://www.americanairlines.co.uk £402
https://www.ebookers.com have loads of flights for around the £420 mark - pick your favourite airline!
Keep an eye out for any airline offers. I was about to book with BA when AA had a flight sale - I got 2 tickets from Manchester to NYC via Boston for £250 each travelling at the end of April.0 -
Thank you so much for your help! I'm hoping to stay for at least a week. You've made me feel a little more motivated to look for a bargain!0

The reason my post was unusually unhelpful is that I get fed up with posters not bothering to SEARCH for the answers BEFORE asking for help.

NEW YORK has been DONE to DEATH on this forum, a little effort on behalf of the OP would save space for more unique questions.

Gotta agree with blindman there. New York, along with the likes of Amsterdam, Paris, Dubai, Thailand, Prague, etc, etc, etc have done soo, sooo, sooooo many times.
I've suggested in the past having stickies or a sub-board for popular destinations, but this has fallen on deaf ears.
Re the OPs questions, have a look at travelling sometime in September, fares will be a bit cheaper. Also the weather will be pleasent. NY in summer can be very hot and stuffy."An eye for an eye leaves the whole world blind" - Mahatma Gandhi0
