The Citizens Advice Bureaux has formed a £3 million partnership with Nationwide – named Nationwide MoneyActive Project. I believe this is totally unethical!! What does everyone else think?
The financial institutions created the debt crisis we now have in this country.

I am not sure Nationwide are the guilty boys here. As far as I know, they were never in the sub prime market and, being a membership organisation, have always had their members to answer to in terms of the way they trade and the salaries they pay.£705,000 raised by client groups in the past 18 mths :beer:0

https://www.nationwide.co.uk/about_nationwide/corporate_responsibility/citizens_advice.htm Nationwide launches three year partnership with Citizens Advice
Nationwide Building Society has announced a three year partnership with the national charity Citizens Advice. The Society's £3 million investment will fund the recruitment and training of 1,300 volunteers over the next three years who will provide financial education training and advice on money matters across the UK.
This project will combine the reach and reputation of Citizens Advice Bureau with substantial funding from Nationwide to support consumers on a wide range of financial issues. Nationwide funding will train volunteers to carry out pro-active financial education work in their local communities. Financial capability sessions will then be available not only through the bureau network* but also directly within the community via community centres and groups and will be rolled out from mid-2009.

The CAB recieves funding from some local authorities, but always remains impartial. The CAB are a charity that desperately needs more funding. It is an oversubscribed service and cannot always reach those who need it the most.0

As above the CAB does get a lot of money from the local authority as well as central government (see Financial Inclusion Fund) but the credit industry does fund a number of different schemes and some of these are run through the CABs, they are always completely impartial. Like you say the credit industry made this mess so should be working to help the most vulnerable groups at least.
In respect of the nationwide, they do have a very good reputation within the industry and are regularly touted has having ethical policies and good customer service relations, usually only beat by Britanica and Fist Direct. Love the system or loath it we all make use of the credit industry to live our comftable lives and it is these types of financial companies we should be championing not slamming.Information provided is general and not specific to an individuals position. For more specific advice an agency such as National Debtline, Citizens Advice Bureau, CCCS or Payplan should be contacted.
