Xbox 360 fault

Good afternoon all, I am just wondering if anyone has any knowledge of the fault with an xbox 360. It has three flashing red lights on the ring of light and a green light on the back of the power supply. As far as I can see it will need to be sent off for repair.

Does anyone have any knowledge of this fault and do you know how much it would cost to get it repaired?

All replies welcome. Thanks

The three rings of death lol.
Depending when you purchased the machine, microsoft extended the warranty to 3 years for this problem. You will have to send the machine back to microsoft for repair.
The main problems is due to the stupid cpu and graphics chip in which some of the metal overheats. Unless your an absolute geek and good with a solder iron, and can purchase the additional screws to fix this, I would just send it back.

If you are out of warranty, which I doubt you will be, it will cost around £60 to fix. Microsoft pay for the delivery.

Hi there, this is a very common fault (you only need to google "3 red lights xbox 360" to see), and Micro$soft have a system in place to ensure that consoles now have a 3 year guarantee against this problem.(they fix it for free).
If go to www.xbox.com and log in with your xboxlive details you can choose the option to send it away for repair.
If you are not on xboxlive, there is a phone number on there (0800 - so freephone) to call them to arrange a pick up of your console. The easiest way I have found (done this twice now) is to ask them to send a box, you put the xbox in and seal it, and UPS take it away to Germany to get fixed. It will be returned in about 10 days fixed or replaced.
All the details of this and how to track the progress through the UPS site are on xbox.com.

    It's only a game

If its under 3 years old then it will be covered by Microsoft extended warranty for this fault

Just register your xbox360 @ xbox live and start a warranty claim

Thank you so much, this has helped enormously. I have had the xbox 360 for about 18 months, the booklet stated that it was under warranty for 1 year, but due to this problem it looks as though I am covered.

I am not on xbox live, so I will ring the number and get it sent off.

    Thanks again.
