Best credit card for repaying in full monthly with generous credit limit?

Hi,

I wondered if anyone could suggest a good credit card for which I'd like repay the balance in full monthly.

My requirements are:
  1. Good credit limit - perhaps £5K or so. What's the highest I could get (I have a good, if a little bland, credit history)?
  2. Easy online payment. Ideally I'd like to pay it off each month with a BACS transfer. Is this possible? Alternatively, I'd like to pay it off with my debit card. I don't really want to set up a direct debit, as I like to do everything manually. I definitely don't want to have to send a cheque in to pay the balance.
  3. Comprehensive online service. Would an Egg card be good for this?
  4. Good, reputable provider - the larger the better
Many thanks in advance!

I'd go with MBNA (or one there backed cards like Virgin) if trying to meet the above criteria.

Bank of Scotland also recently gave me a good credit limit.

Do you have a credit card at the moment? If not then you'll struggle to get a 5 grand starter card. If you do, then what is your highest limit and what is the provider?

TBH its always best to start with your own bank as they have 'history' on you and the way you handle finance.

All cards issue by MBNA - Virgin is one of the best at the moment and would fufill all or most of our requirements.

Mate MBNA/Virgin are one of the hardest to get accepted for right now! The answers would depend on variosu factors and if the OP has no credit then these would NOT be the best cards to apply for as he'd get rejected.

I want a Virgin card and have two gold ones but cannot get virgin for the life of me...... goes to show different lenders assess things differently.

Yes, i do have a credit card at the moment which is with my bank. I have about a £4K credit limit on that.

The reason I want another one is because for some reason I can't link it with my online banking account, so always have to pay the balance by cheque. As well as that, I'd just like a second one as well, so to start getting a more comprehensive credit history.

    Many thanks again! :D

Ok then yea, Virgin would be one of the best or Egg. Even Abbey Zero (due back soon I think)...... there are some good offers. See here:

I didn't realise Virgin were tightening their belts that much.

I HAD heard Barclaycard are rejecting 7 out of 10 applications and also know A&L Loans (Santander) are rejecting 40% too so Virgin does not surprise me, although this is the first I'd heard somebody say.
    Best Regards,
