Rang to cancel Virgin credit card today, having paid it off during interest free period. They have offered me another 6 months interest free until September on balance transfers. I might use it to pay something off one of our loans.

good idea, anything to get debts onto 0% interest ( assuming they are charging interest) just make sure its cleared before the free period ends.0

same with abbey card, it seems if you pay off your cards they offer you more and if you dont and need the money you have to beg for help, . i used the interest free period for a new lap top to keep up with all our mse tips and deals and will pay off over the six months. we love interest free......0

Abbey card is through MBNA, which is probably why.
I'm going to call to close down my MBNA account in a few months and hope they do the same!0 -
This happened to me last week on both Virgin and Abbey cards. Funny how you have to clear the balance first though (I transferred mine to a new 0% card with Lloyds) and then they give you the new 0% deal for six months!0

Its not really funny. If you have a balance on your credit card, then you cannot close it. If the balance is £0, then you can close it, so that is why you are offered something else to stay with them.0

Something else funny...
When I rang Virgin to cancel they didn't make a fuss at all... could be because I'd been late making a payment :rotfl: ...
... and had been reverted back to the full interest rate! :mad:My TV is broken!
Edit: refunded £515 for TV 1.5 years out of warranty - thank you Sale of Goods Act! :j0 -
OP, did they charge you a BT fee?0
