Hi

Im 24 and looking to buy a car that looks good and prestige... Doesnt have to be very fast something thats only couple yr or so old.

I have 10k or little more to spend but want a car that wont looose to much value in a yr or 2. Also something thats "fairly" practicle in terms of fuel like 2 liter diesel or something Automatic is ideal

I been looking at 3 series but was worried its be to big and bulky :S
Merc was on cards but then I saw new model comming out soon which shall effect the price.

anyone have any thoughts?

bit of a contradiction - sporty car and diesel / auto?

New c class merc out about a year or so now.

What about a Golf GTI? Decent residuals, plenty about, fast, reasonably economical....

The way things are I think you'll loose what ever you do when it comes to cars.

Performance cars are cheap but whos buying?
    4 year bmw z4 - £8500
Maxda rx-8 for about £6500 same age.

My friend recently lost over £9K on an Evo 8 went from £17K to £8K in under two years, (and that doesn't include the service intervals every 4K miles) now got a diesel focus, performance cars are money pits.

You don't say what car you currently drive (if any), but have you considered
    the cost of insurance?

    Have to agree with this.

A diesel sports car not really in the spirit of a sports car.

MX5 is the safe (and good fun) option.
