Fuji Camera Owners - Do you use Finepix software to upload your photos?

Got a Fuji s8000fd, and recently changed computers. Just tried to upload my latest photos to new pc. Loaded finepix software from the cd as usual but when connected the camera, the software found an error and shut itself down. Uploaded the pictures via Vista's application in the end with no real issues
Just wondering if its worth bothering trying to sort out the Fuji software? It was always really slow, and I didn't use it before for anything other than uploading the photos. Only thing that concerns me is how to tell if its ok to disconnect the camera (i.e. in the same way as a memory stick)?

I have fuji s7000 and never use the Fuji software, I plug in, turn camera on "preview" and PC finds it using explorer, then I just transfer or copy across to PC & turn camera off at end before unpluging
XP btw, never had any problems so farNumerus non sum0 -
Use Picasa from google. Good bit of photo organising software.Ubuntu is an ancient African word, meaning: 'I can't configure Debian'.0

I never use finepix. I view open folder and drag out the pics I want.0

I tend to find the bundled software a bit too much 'controlling' and also slow. Using explorer or the windows transfer wizard thing works quickly for me and I can easily choose where to save pics.0

I also dont use it i prefer to just plug camera or sd card into laptop then snapfish opens and transfers my photo's to picture folder and uploads to the snapfish site so the pics are also backed up in case of disaster. I'm not too keen on the fuji software but at the end of the day its about personal preferences0

Thanks all. Just uninstalled finepix and will just use windows explorer from now on. Was a little concerned about discounting the camera without first having a 'you are ok to disconnect' message, but I guess as long as images arent being transferred at the time it will be fine0

I would recommend using Picasa, as it allows you to tag each photo, making finding any that you want much more convenient. It also has a few editing tools built in.Ubuntu is an ancient African word, meaning: 'I can't configure Debian'.0
