Thanks to the advice of MSE and the lovely people on this board I just got the % rate on my card reduced. I never realised you could ask! I never even realised what rate it was...prepare yourself...24.9%...OMG!! But they will be reducing it to 15.9% from next month and I've also cancelled the payment protection cover. The guy didn't want me to cancel and tried his very best to get me not to. But I stayed calm and persisted.
This all came to a head when I realised that after paying out £65 on my card last month, £6.68 came off my balance...I'll now be trying to get a 0% card to transfer the balance. I'm not sure if this will happen, I have a bad history, am now a housewife with no income, but I'll try!
Thanks everyone!

You are an inspiration!
Barclaycard has just dropped my rate from 19.9 to 14.9 - not that I don't pay it off anymore, but still, I rang and threatened to leave and they were happy to oblige (!)Official DFW Nerd Club - Member no. 002 :rotfl:0 -

I would have got the annual card fee refunded as well if I paid one, but I don't pay one, but pleased at the result!
