Internal Doors Quote

I've just been quoted by a neighbour (who is a joiner) for purchasing and installing two internal pine doors (bought from Magnet) together with replacing the architraves around both doors. He is quoting £170 per door which is the cost of the door, new architraves and installation - does this seem reasonable?
I know Magnet aren't the cheapest option but my doors aren't standard sized.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

We have just had our doors replaced and Magnet trade did appear to be the cheapest solution for us.
We went for moulded panelled doors which I think are about the cheapest you can get, these ranged from £20 - £25 each depending on size (most were £20). Also had a couple of pine 15 panel glass doors at £60 each. The fitter then charged £30 for fitting each door. We only had one (external) frame replaced but I don't have the breakdown of cost for that. The fitter didn't charge anything for altering a few internal door frames although others quoted £10 a door for each one changed. In addition we spent approx another £25 a door on handles, latches and hinges.0 -
Look at £50 per door to hang and £10 per set of architraves, and of course the cost of the door0

To hang one door I've just been quoted £80 for a days work, plus (i have already got the door) cost of door lining and architrave if wanted. Carpenter will come and have a look before estimating how long it will take him and then quote accordingly i.e. part of a day.0

Thanks for all your replies. It appears that my quote is rather excessive. Being a neighbour makes it all the more difficult - he delivered the doors this afternoon (Victorian knotted pine with a glazed panel on top) but I haven't seen a copy of the invoice. He is coming to install them tomorrow morning so I'll ask him for a breakdown of the charges before he starts.
In future, I think I'll ring someone up from the paper as it saves any neighbourly conflict which is the last thing I want.
Thanks again for your advice.0 -
Actually that sounds good to me! The cheapest quote I could find for replacing a damaged door was £250. That was for one of those ugly flat doors (sapele or something?)too. I was horrified, especially as I'd hoped to replace all of the six doors from the hallway with more attractive ones before I sold the flat. That was 2 years ago, in East London.
If you want to check on the price of the doors you may be able to check online, or else call the store.0 -
5 doors supplied and fitted £45 a door including ironmongary, hung to exsiting architrave.0
