I know I know - its stupid when we don't have kids but these are the only dates I can get off work 25th to 29th inclusive!
ideally like to go abroad (city break or whatever) but happy to stay in UK
as cheap as possible

An idea of your budget would be good as what is cheap to one person isnt to another.

Budget wise not really thought to be honest - I'd guess £150 to £200 max
fly from luton and stansted
really happy to consider uk though, in Jan we did Bath area and had a lovely few days
could also fly from heathrow but those two are the best options.0 -
If you're thinking UK cottages, these sites are useful as they list late availability but you deal direct with the owners. At this late stage you should be able to do a good bit of bartering as they'd prefer to have their cottages occupied - the letting agencies often won't budge on price.
