Sunday in London.

We'll be arriving in London sunday lunchtime, for a couple of days and wondering whats open on a Sunday?

Is Covent Garden market open/interesting on a Sunday ? Is the Science museum open on a Sunday? London aquarium open Sundays?

We understand the theatres are closed Sunday evenings.

Can you please suggest anything interesting to do or go and see on a Sunday afternoon and evening in London: steady now ;)

Your replies appreciated - Happy

Hi you can always wander down Oxford Street, go for afternoon tea somewhere nice, I dont think Covent garden market is open but there's always lots going on there. Or you could always go to Spitalfields market which is open on Sunday http://www.visitspitalfields.com/

    Not Sunday or Monday.

But if you are around on Tuesday this is by far the best value exhibition for anyone who is into history / politics / cartoons / comic strips.

Cartoon Museum - £2.50 adults, Children & concessions free :)

Please tell me - What's not open Sunday or Monday

Shops usually stay open til 6-7pm in the centre. I've been to the National Theatre and the Globe on Sunday evenings (sometimes performances have started earlier than usual, say about 6.30 - best to check individual theatre websites if you know what you want to do). It's also easy to get a table in a nice restaurant or a seat in a bar on a Sunday night.

I think Covent Garden market is open til about 6pm every day. Very lovely for a Sunday visit is Camden Market, a short tube or bus ride away stalls open til 5-6pm, and brimming with atmosphere.

It al depends on what exactly you want to do... Try the online

  • Hi Annie,

I've clicked the 'thanks' button and I get a message in a box:-

"You have already said thank you for this post!"

So, it won't let me say thanks. So here is my THANKS :T

I'll try clicking again later the thanks button.

    Edit below:-

Although it refused to accept the thanks it's now registered it

I think it's more confused than me :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

Central London is buzzing on a Sunday. All the shops are open 11 - 5 pm.

Always some street entertainment going on in Covent Garden

Take a tour bus ride - see all the sites (hop on and off)

    Walk along the Embankment

Go to Greenwich on the boat from Westminster Bridge,

Camden Lock Market (Camden Town tube station)

    Have a great day.

  • The Comedy Store located between Piccadilly Circus and Leicester Square is well worth a visit on a Sunday evening. They do a Comedy Store players show on a Sunday and often includes some well known comedians. I've been and haven't laughed so much in a long time.

Please when suggesting can everyone also show the cost of the activities, as London can be quite expensive.
