Single item insurance?

We currently have buildings and contents insurance through Norwich Union. The policy costs us around £430 per year and there is little scope to move insurers (at a good price) due to the house we reside in having a flat roof.
The contents insurance covers any item up to £2,500 but I recently got engaged to my girlfriend and the engagement ring (bought abroad) has been valued in the UK at £6,500. If we wish to cover this ring through our current insurance it effectively doubles the price of our policy to £850 per year.
Are there any insurers out there that would effectively cover a single item at less than the £420 offered through Norwich Union?
