I have had an offer accepted on a house and from what I have seen of the house and area it seems to be very good value. I have just has the survey results and nothing much came up except that the roof is asbestos and will need replacing in about 5 years.
It that really bad? Anyone got any idea of costs involved?
Thanks

contact the council that this property falls under. ask for enviomental health, they maybe be able to give you info on any asbestos in that area, there are a few types of asbestos and my roof has some<solid type>, its harmless unless drilled or sanded and is very common of the age of property,to remove does require a specialist as it has to be contained and could be very costly, but my surveyer said about mine that unless your roof blows off your unlikey to renew it in your life time, its the risk you take, you can get a specialist survey done for the asbestos at about £250. to £500, but dont be scare mongered its very commonYou're not drunk if you can lie on the floor without holding on0

We have a flat roof over a garage conversion that has asbestos in it. I've been quoted an extra £600 to safely remove the asbestos as part of the roof replacement. I'm within the M25, so I'm sure its cheaper elsewhere.
