injury claim against me?

    I can't believe they actually wrote to you when they have been liasing with your insurers.

    You'd think the insurers would have nominated solicitors to receive the summons. I remember years ago when I worked in an insurers PI dept. we would warn policyholders a summons was on the way if we hadn't nominated.

    Probably because they considered the matter fully settled. These circumstances do sound somewhat suspicious to me. Did the letter come from the other person directly, or his solicitors?

    it was from his lawyer which i looked up and seems o be one of these accident claim lawyers

    Well yes it's a given that it will be a PI solicitor, because this is a PI case. Is this the same solicitor that dealt with the claim originally? If so it is still rather odd that he didn't go straight to the insurers.

    sorry about stating the obvious. like i said, im really not very good with any of this.
    i really couldnt tell you who the original lawyer was. elephant never mentioned it and in all honesty i wasnt really thinking straight when i callled them:confused:

    Well it is largely irrelevant anyway. I was just trying to rationalise the other party's actions. But it doesn't matter either way to you. Just pass everything along to Elephant and they will sort things out.

    But very possibly not recent notice. It's quite usual practice from what I've seen to send an RTA notice at some random point pre-proceedings, not necessarily when proceedings are imminent.
