Laptop cable

Does anyone know where I can buy a laptop cable? Im in search of some reputable online stores.

Problem is, its not the whole cable which is faulty - it just concerns the end part which plugs into the laptop.
As far as I know, all laptop cables come in two parts:

Part 1 - plugs into the mains - is a long lead upto and including a fat black box.
part 2 - a thinner wire that connects the fat black box to the laptop.

Rather than replacing both parts, I thought it would be cheaper to just replace the second part. Does anyone know of any reputable online stores besides eBay?

Any suggestions as to what I can do?
Many thanks

Dont know what laptop you have but the cables sounds odd. Normally the cable that plugs into the laptop is fixed to the transformer (fat black box) and the other section that plugs into the mains can be disconnected from the black box. Places like Maplins do 'universal' laptop power supplies.

It's not called a cable there are all sorts of cables available!

Go to Maplins electrical stores, (maplin.co.uk).
Do you want the low voltage cable or just the DC plug on the end, again can be broken in two halves. Buy all the parts to make one up. Also today (Sunday) look to your local computer shows - search "British Computer Fairs", dealers often have tons of spares.
  • CPC tend to be cheaper and have a wider range than Maplin.

Are you sure it's the power pin that has failed? More commonly it's the power socket detaching from the mobo unfortunately. Have you checked the output from the power pin with a multimeter? Do this first before you spend money on a new transformer.

The Trust universal one is excellent, you can find one here http://www.necables.co.uk/nec/index.php?target=products&product_id=30300
