Full and Final Settlement

After a battle with my credit card, I have today received a letter agreeing to my claim against them ( for faulty work done to my car by a garage that has changed names and paid for by credit card.). The credit card had asked for an estimate and have accepted it, and will refund the money (£1500) in full and final settlement. This is the good news. However the garage made it clear on the estimate that it was subject to anything else they found when they took the car apart to rebuild. So the bill could be even higher.
Can the money be accepted but not as full and final settlement? And if so how do I? As yet I have not had to have solicitors involved as the evidence was so condemning it would have been quite hard to lose (even though they turned me down at first! ) .
Any advice will be greatly appreciated.

No - AFAIK, if you are made an offer, you can't accept it but also change it's terms.
You would have to decline it and ask them to revise their offer once the work is complete and the full cost known.0 -
Thanks, you have sort of confirmed what I thought. I will have to word a careful letter to them.Newbie thread: go to the top of this page and find these words: Main site > MoneySavingExpert.com Forums > Household & Travel > Motoring > Parking Tickets, Fines & Parking.
