I've never had much luck with big firms - they always tell you to send a letter and never seem to reply! Don't know where in the country you are, but Swindon dog track have always been quite generous

    MOVING THREADS FOR BETTER RESPONSES

Hi, Martin’s asked me to post this in these circumstances: I’ve asked Board Guides to move threads if they’ll receive a better response elsewhere (please see this rule) so this post/thread has been moved to another board, where it should get more replies. ASDA are good if it is related to children, each store has a budget for it and you just need to pop into your local store

Diageo drinks can be good(alot of brands like guiness, archers, baileys fall under them) aslong as you ask for promo type things, not drink. They may send branded glasses etc

Staiblo, Yorkshire Tea, Sainsburys, have been hepful

However, I found(it was not for a school though) that local florists, beautitians, hairdressers etc were good and so were local gyms(1 yrs membership and 5 x pamper days) for giving voucher prizes

Hi i have done this before
i tried the local / family buisness's, and found them to be more giving than the supermarkets. I went to my local hairdresser and they donated a cut and blow dry, i also got a big bunch of flowers from the florist, a hamper of veggys from the green grocer, a hamper from the butcher .......

I found them all more than happy to help because they tend to struggle against the larger supermarkets, and by donateing also they found their own kindness saw more people coming in and buying from them.

    I hope this help.
    ;)

    OP,

If your post had of been a few months ago I would immediately sent you to the Boot's Grabbit thread, they are a lovely bunch of ladies (& gents).

Anytime there has been a charity request they (including myself) have come up trumps donating many [STRIKE]fillers [/STRIKE] items that have cost them a small fortune without any hesitation :T

Alais, some of the people who they sent items too either didn't say who the charity was for or couldn't verify what the charity was

I hope you get some success but I also agree with becky81, local firms & businesses are wonderful, I too am involved with my children's PTA - it's so nice giving lots of your time and then your children getting the benefit from it so well done you :T

Have you tried local tourist attractions? In Bristol places like Explore @Bristol, the zoo & Westonbirt Arbouretum will all donate complimentary tickets. I have always found that large firms tend to only donate in their local area, although I have had some nice things from Tetley tea, if I remember correctly. Also, if you are local to me - Bristol Glass donated a lovely vase, which attracted many people to buy a ticket.
