A CD that was out of print and autographed for £2.99 BIN (it usually sold for about £30-40). The guy also sent me another CD by the same artist that was an extremely limited edition one and also autographed! He put a note in with the parcel saying he had been clearing out his uncle's house and didn't believe that anyone would want to buy this rubbish (he put it slightly more politely than that, but not much!). He said he sent the other CD free as he couldn't believe anyone would also want that too. It's a shame that it didn't occur to him that just because he didn't like something it didn't mean no one else would.

About 4 years ago I bought a Georg Jensen ring, advertised as white gold, diamonds - not too much detail, but I chanced it - paid £1000. Took it to be checked - it was a bespoke ring, platinum and very high quality diamonds - jeweller tried to buy it off me for £3000, I eventually sold it for £5,700 - well chuffed!

I won a John Lewis hanging light along with 2 matching wall lights for 99p and it was agreed that I would pay cash on collection. I actually felt embarassed about handing over just £1 for the amount I'd won, especially when he said 'would you like the penny change?'...

Im not really good at getting bargains on ebay but I did sell an armchair for 99p a few months ago, it wasnt a loss as I had tried getting rid of it on freecycle but kept getting let down for collection and I was desperate for the space in my living room so figured id bang it on ebay for 99p and it sold, they even collected it within an hour, the buyers were chuffed as they had been looking for that specific shape of chair for ages.
  • Got a gorgeous little dress for my daughter to wear to a wedding last year. Was about £3 delivered, and she got so many compliments on it. Saved me plenty pennies too!
