Empty nurofen box from boots - any help?

We were at boots on Thursday evening and did the big pre holiday shop. We bought everything at the pharmacy till as we were also purchasing a pack of nurofen plus. The pharmacy assistant took a box of nurofen off the shelf, did the normal 'are you on any med's?' and put it into our shopping bag. My OH has just needed a tablet and found that the pack we have been sold is competely empty - no instuctions no medicines just an empty box. It is obviously a display box but it has nothing on it to say display only it is a normal nurofen box.
Now how on earth can we prove this?? They could easily say that we have obviously just emptied the box but it was sold to us empty! We were unable to check in the store as the pharmacy assistant put the box straight into our shopping bag. Would this be better dealt with as a letter or going into the store be the best way. I have a sinking feeling we will be called liars though! I think I will use my normal pharmacy to get the medication next time.

Just go into the store and explain. I'm sure there will not be a problem, it probably won't be the first time it has happened.Gone ... or have I?0

This happened to me a few weeks ago in tesco
I took them back and they gave me a new box and told me that it happens quite oftenJan 2020 Kitten cross stitching0 -
This used to happen a lot when I worked in retail. Shoplifters take out contents and replace empty boxes back on shelves, that's why you often see empty display packets and have to collect the items at the checkouts. I don't see any reason why they would doubt you.
Our customers would often ring first and explain what had happened and we would just tell them to call in with empty packet so we could record it as stolen, and of course apologise and replace it with a full unopened packet.
