debt management on credit cards can i still claim?

hi,
i an in financial hardship and was wondering if i try to reclaim charges with my credit cards, will they give me what i am owed or will then just reduce the balance on what i owe them.
my cards have been stopped for over a year but they still add interest.
i am paying a small amount each month towards the debt. Its the same with my bank accounts
would be interested to hear opinions
