NTL & Wireless

Hi ,

I just need some guidance on Wireless internet and NTL - as a last resort I could call NTL for help but that would be only if all other avenues exhausted as I find the staff incredibly frustrating.

Ok - I have just order a new laptop which is WiFi enabled via :

Wireless Local Area Networking
Dell™ Wireless 1370 802.11b/g Mini PCI Card

I am already an NTL Broadband customer and I am confused as to wether or not they offer a wireless service. On their website they are selling a wireless kit for £10 but I am not sure if I need this or if indeed I can continue using NTL but utilise the wireless capabilities.

I would really like to stay with ntl as changing my email address would be a total pain but I would also love to be able to use my new laptop without the cumbersome cables .

I'd really appreciate any help you may be able to give.

I rechecked and the NTL kit is 99.99 not 9.99 - need to get my eyes tested ! This would give me the router and the pc card but my new laptop will have the pc card anyway so a waste of money.

I will have a scout about to find a good deal on the router and it sounds like I will be on my way - I was concerned that NTL would have to offer a separate wireless broadband package before I could benefit but it seems not - hurrah !

Yes I just subscribe via a cable modem to NTL so your solution above sounds perfect. Thanks very much for your help !

Get a Msi 'RG54G3' router. Just plug it in and off you go.
