I have just sold an item and when i went to forward invoice it says buyer is from Korea.
I dont really want to send item to Korea, Do i have to complete sale?
I did mention in my listing for all non UK bidders to contact me first for postal costs etc which the buyer didnt.

Why don't you want to send to Korea? They sould'nt have been able to bid if you listed as 'uk only', i always list as 'will post worldwide' but i do get fed up with people not e-mailing first (as i ask).

Since you had allowed overseas bidders why do you want to cancel the sale

Either allow overseas people to bid, or block them entirely,

Start from here to set buyer requirements to exclude overseas bidders or bidders with NPB strikes etc.

smoker99: Why would it be anything to do with what nationality they are??
What a silly comment to make.

I have had enough things go missing in the UK never mind outside the Uk.
Saffronsmum: its as you say they dont always email before bidding i would rather buyers ask and get a postal cost from me before making a bid thats all.

I have messaged the buyer back with the postal costs and waiting for the buyer to respond- hopefully there wont be any problems & i'll post the item however if the buyer is not happy with the postage cost then there will be a problem therfore the sale might not be complete. That was my only reason for starting the thread.

Seriously though, if you are unhappy about selling worldwide why don't you limit yourself to just the Americas and Europe, or even just Europe?

It is even easier to work out the postage ina dvance and have it all available in the foreign boxes when you list so they can look up the postal costs to their country before they even bid and once they win they can just go through checkout without you having to send an invoice.

Oh right, thanks. I wasnt aware that the buyer could do that if i picked that option. I think I will do that for future transactions- saves any hassle after the auction.

I don't know if its too late but I had something similar about a year ago (not sure how new rules would affect this)
I listed to only sell to EU counties and that anyone outside the UK should contact me first for postage.

And low and behold, the winner was from....Brazil.
She wanted me to mail the (99p) item to her for £1.50. The item was a pair of jeans. (you couldn't post that within the UK for £1.50 recorded). I sent her the actual postage cost (think it was around £5) she threw a fit. "I want my jeans for £1.50 postage or I will tell ebay ...etc etc" I called her bluff. She didn't do anything, I listed a non paying bidder.

The sale didn't go ahead, her inability to read the listing meant I got to re-list. (the actual final cost was £10 for the jeans- fate or good luck, I was pleased!)

Not saying the same thing will happen to you, but just let the Korean person have their item, send them the actual postage cost, they may change their mind, you are in your rights as you asked them to contact you first for postage prices (they did not) and if they disagree with the (actual) postage cost, they have little to fight about.

It doesn't matter what you put in your listings, if you allow bidders and they win you have a valid buyer. If you don't want to sell outside Europe then as per my earlier post you need to ensure your seller preferences are set to exclude other non European bidders.

Slightly better than that, you can open the NPB on day 7 and then close it 8 days later, so you've only got a few days left to wait before opening the dispute.
