TV/Sky/DVD Sound Quality

Hi

I am having problems with the sound quality when watching Sky or DVD's as its very low compared to the normal analogue channels. All devices are set up via scart leads but something is definately wrong.

I have a Sony LCD TV with tuner box, an NTL tuner, a panasonic DVD/HD recorder. Any one have an idea of how many leads there should be and how they should be connected.

Many thanks

Are you getting Sky via cable or satellite?
Could you describe in what way the sound quality is low? Is it afrequency range problem or a volume level problem.
Its possible that your scart leads are causing the problem, are they pound shop or better quality ones?

spend some dosh on well shielded scart cables

i had interference from the tv corrupting the sound due to cheap and nasty scarts, fixed after buying 2 expensive scart cables
  • Cheers for that, its the volume. I'm moving house in the next few weeks so will look into buying some better quality scart leads.

Are there 'audio out' level controls on the ntl box and dvd player?

I've had a similar problem with my Daewoo DVD recorder. What are 'audio out' level controls?

Somewhere in the setup menu for the DVD recorder there may be a level adjustment to make it louder, or quieter. If not there may be one in the TV to balance levels between the TV and an external device.
