Powergen raise my blood pressure...

Grrrrrrr!! Moved house at the end of January, and started up a contract with Powergen as they were the existing suppliers. Told my old utility supplier when I left the previous property and asked for the final bill to go to the new address. They took this to mean that we wanted them to supply us at our new address - the first we heard of this was when Powergen rang us with a "sorry you're leaving" call! Managed to cancel the transfer, and was assured by powergen that it would be as though it never happened. Received grovelling letters from former utility supplier - sorted, or so I thought. Then I got a final bill from Powergen (having already received the "thanks for (re)joining" letter). Rang Powergen - told to ignore it, balance would be added to normal quarterly bill. Got a red final bill from Powergen today - rang them this morning, was told the balance hadn't been moved "in error". Now DEFINITELY sorted.

Got a call just at lunch time - asked to explain the whole situation again. Then told that because they had generated the bill, our original account was taken off the system, and we got a new account when we rejoined - so the balance can't be transferred, just had to be paid. Got quite cross, and told them that perhaps they should make sure their customer service teams give out the right information first time around (rather than 3rd time). Customer service team sounded very surprised that I'd been told that the balance would be transferred - told them I was happy to pay the bill, and looked forward to receiving my final FINAL bill as I am now actually leaving Powergen due to the appalling customer service! Just finished sorting out the switch, hurrah!

*rant over, steam from ears slowly subsiding*
Thanks for listening!

Lol, Think all electric/utility providers are the same!

I am in the middle of trying to sort out British Gas! Its my parents account really - I still live at home. We changed to BG in 2002. At the moment BG are saying that we owe over £2000 more than we think we owe - we know we owe alot - we sat down and worked out exactly how much we thought we owed them - and it was over £2000 less. We are now disputing it with them - trying to get them to rectify it is another matter!
