I have also done an RAC check on the vehicle to see if it come up with anything, I thought the leasing company might not have been able to get hold of my company and reported it stolen but everything checked out fine.0

When you say RAC check does that include a HPI check?
If its leased it will still have finance attached & would show up.Not Again0 -
Hi, Yes includes HPI check and shows up as clear of finance0

Possibly a director bought it & leased it back to the company, avoiding tax & keeping money in the company.
Its not a large leasing company anyway.
The only other way to find out is to contact the adminstrators directly or the police. Not Again0 -
Will dig deeper into this tomorrow, Suppose i could also contact the DVLA so they can get in touch with the registered keeper, Can anyone answer my initial questions though with a definate answers.
Would it be legal for me to insure it myself and use it for my own personal use until the lease company finally pick it up?
If i cannot use it myself, Could i maybe charge the leaing company storage as its causing me problems not being able to move it from my drive?0 -
Ok, if you park it on the road and then leave it you could be seen as contributing to an uninsured vehicle offence, codes like IN10 (driving without insurance) have variants for things like "causing, allowing, aiding or permitting IN10 to happen" (I think that specific one is IN13 or something like that) so I would strongly suggest that you do not drive it onto the road.
You could certainly send them a letter detailing your rates for storage (£12/day is the standard rate that police and insurance storage companies use), another option would be to report it to the police as an abandoned vehicle that has been left on your driveway and request that they remove it. This will cost the lease company £112 recovery and £12/day storage and if they don't get it then the police will either sell the car at auction (which they can legally do) or crush it into a cube.
Since the police make quite a tidy profit out of uninsured and abandoned high value vehicles, you'll probably get a decent response from them
Edit: Alternatively the DVLA offer a service where you can enquire about the registered keepers details for a £2.50 fee and a valid reason. They'll ask for some evidence and I suspect a picture of the car in your driveway would do. It's form V888, details here
Or you could just leave the keys on the bonnet in plain view of any passing chav and let them take care of the problem for you
