I’m interested in getting a decent current account at the moment and am really struggling.
You seem to be confusing current account

I know there is a thread on instant access accounts but that does not exactly cover what I want. I want an account with which I have a card and can buy goods and do internet shopping and many “instant access” accounts don’t have this feature such as those of Anglo-Irish.
    with instant access savings accounts.

You knock LTSB Classic with Vantage but it's probably one of the best around since it combines both the features of a current account and a savings account with good rates of interest as long as the balance doesn't fall below 1k ( and you satisfy simple rules like stay in credit and feed in >1k per month)

It couldn't be simpler and you can have several of these accounts. The rates are better than many fixed rate accounts with limited or no access.

they have been good to me even dropped a charge for being overdrawn after my boss forgot when pay day was.
A lot of places will do this for a first offence.

I still bank with them but am disappointed.
I agree G_M. The Nationwide flexaccount is no longer as attractive as it used to be. Worth keeping open though just to 'switch' to another institution that offers incentives to 'switch' ;)
