Ok. According to crucial scanner I have 256MB current memory:-
- Maximum Memory Capacity: 2048MB
- Currently Installed Memory: 256MB
- Available Memory Slots: 1
- Number of Banks: 2
- Dual Channel Support: No
- CPU Manufacturer: AuthenticAMD
- CPU Family: AMD Sempron(tm) 2800+ Model 8, Stepping 1
- CPU Speed: 2005 MHz
- The name of this model may not exactly match the model description of your system, our system scanner could not identify a specific model name when evaluating your computer. However, it was able to identify the motherboard your system utilizes.
Q: Will my system recognize the maximum upgrade?
A: Possibly
How much memory your Windows OS will recognize depends on which version of Windows you are running. 32-bit versions of Windows will see (and utilize) only 3GB or 3.5GB. To utilize more memory, install a 64-bit version of your OS.
The Pc is Packard Bell and it has windows XP.
I have posted logs on this forum and another in the past and nothing was found awry.
No idea how to find ram or CPU.
Thanks0 -
I would certainly upgrade from 256mb of RAM - given the current Prices of memory, buy as much as you can afford!Everybody is equal; However some are more equal than others.0

512MB is the absolute minimum to run XP smoothly. You have one slot (of two) free, so you could install 1GB in that, making a total of 1280MB. That will make it run much better. But if you want, you can also replace the current 256MB RAM module with another 1GB one, giving you the maximum of 2GB, but at twice the price.
Install as much as you can afford, but don't go for less than 1GB extra in the free slot-the price difference between 1GB and 512MB is minimal. No free lunch, and no free laptop0 -
1gb will be a massive speed increase. 2Gb should fly
