It works better if you make it an animal of some kind rather than a box. It's easier to make an attachment to an animal than a 'thing'. So I'm told.
Happy saving.Herman - MP for all!0 -
This is a top idea. We went out looking for our own pig at lunchtime and failed to find one, but then I looked on Pigsback when I got home and discovered I had enough points for a piggy bank through them. So I have ordered piggy and now just have to find the perfect space and perfect name for the new addition to our family......0

Well I bagged up all the money in my boring old jar!! Total of £60 which is my first official overpayment lump sum it will be March 2006 PP (Pre pig!!).
All the rest that couldn't make up bags for the bank has gone into the pig, so with usual overpayment at the moment it is £69.05 for this month. I'm only going to count pig money in my signature though!0 -
This is a great idea. I'm going to pop out tomorrow lunchtime and try and get one for work and one for home, stop me frittering my money away on things (mostly food) that I don't need!!!Nil Illegitimi desperandum carborundum

Well done all of you for making a start. Don't forget the speech bubble....you need to write the important bits down, mind.
I can just imagine a growing number of MP's popping up in homes all over the land.Herman - MP for all!0 -
This is brilliant - we have an Eeyore money bank which is saving up for a Disney Trip
But I think putting it downstairs or more visible with an explanation to give impetus will work wonders.
Congratulations on such a wonderfully useful post!0 -
Fantastic idea Aliasojo!!! A few months back I read Thefunkygibbons thread in Mortgages and had a 'lightbulb' moment. Had never really thought it possible that we could pay off our mortgage a lot sooner than the current 'rest of our life' term!
It suddenly gave me real motivation to start to do something positive about it.
Your thread is a brilliant way to start making inroads!!
Thanks so much! :T

Just "fed" Tom and Jerry with 3 pounds. Yay.
Forgot to say that I also save £2.00 a week with me old Mum - will buy Christmas food and drink (at Christmas, obviously!).
Good luck with all your saving.0 -
If anyone is creative out there you could probably make one of paper mache or cardboard. Cover with crepe paper pieces. Just an idea.Penny xxx

Actually that is a good idea, I remember doing one at school. We stuck the paper over a small balloon then pierced it with a needle once the paper had set.
Just remember to put the money you would have spent on a pig....in the pig.Herman - MP for all!0
