Can you move the dial onto the spin cycle? Hopefully this will make it drain.

Then onto the end of the programme cycle so the door will release.

Usually at the bottom of the machine is the fluff filter. Open this up (it may be tight) and the water will come out. Make sure you have a few bowls at the ready to catch the water. You should be able to turn just a little to enable the flow of water to come out slowly.

The fluff filter is usually behind a little door at the base of the machine and it has a dial that you have to turn.

    Hope this helps

If you take the waste water pipe out of the drain and lower the end down to ground level, ie lower than the drum the water will flow out.
You could catch it in baking trays or if you are near the back door let it out there.

Thank you so much you kind people. DOH has now got it out and draining as you say by lowering pipe at the back. Think the pump must have gone !!! Does anyone have any idea of the ball park figure to get it repaired or could it be cheaper to get a new machine. Present 1 is probably 8-10 years old

I would hazard a guess, that buying a new one would be your best option.
A new part and labour would probably be quite expensive and it is quite an old machine.

The average life of most appliances is 6 years. Bosch AEG etc are 8 and Miele 15 so my guess is you have had it with this one. Look around for a cheap one. Where do you live. John Lewis have an outlet store here in Swindon can get some AMAZING deals on ex displays and end of line machines

Hi, Don't buy a cheap washing machine - it is false economy. Miele are the best by far, Every component in every washing machine is designed for 10,000 hours of life which works out to be 2 washes a day, 5 days a week for 20 years! If you work it out as an anual cost, say £600 for a washing machine that's £30 per year, no other make is anywhere near as cheap.
