Hi
I've been refused for every c/c i've applied for so decided to get 2 credit reports one from experian and one from equifax. i got one back from experian but equifax have asked me for my full date of birth then after a few weeks sent another letter asking for me to prove my address by sending bills, credit card statements and copy of passport which i have now sent off and will see what else they may want.
what i need to know is whether i was refused credit cards because equifax couldnt verify my address etc even though ive had other cards/loans in the past?
thanks

Could be. But could be loads of other reasons too.
Are you on the electoral roll is a big one? Have you moved recently? Are you self employed? Have you recently started a new job? Have you made more than 3 application in the last 3 months? Do you have any outstanding county court judgements or other black marks against your name?
There is no exact science to whether you will get accepted or not. If you have no current credit agreements you may need to build a bit of a history with Capital 1 or Barclaycard Initial say.
You may also find it tough if your main banking relationship is with HSBC and some others. They have not routinely shared information with the credit agencies, unless you do something wrong, so your credit worthiness may be invisible to the companies you have been applying to.
Good luck
