Acai Burn

Options
My partner foolishly has gotten in with this scam - given them our Tuxedo account number and the bast@@ds have drawn out over £120 so far for 1 jar of f`n pills !

- being a tuxedo card theres no way I can claim the money back unlike a credit card were unprotected - I have blocked the card now - or bolted the gate after the horse has gone if you prefer !

She will probably tell me shes won the lottery in the Ivory Coast next according to an email from Dr and mrs Magumbo whose relatives were all killed in an automobile crash last week!!

and another email states the Abbey National,Paypal,Halifax and Nationwide all want us to resubmit our banking details !!

She actually fell for that ACAI BURN website - and was worried that she would not be elligable for the trial , when I put details of my name ( F@ckin Scam ) weight ( 999 lbs ) how much do you want to weigh ( 4lbs ) age ( 74 ) height ( 4 ft 6 inchs ) - guess what - I was accepted !! whooooahhhh !!

I have 2 c grade O levels - shes the one with a Masters Degree and letters afer her name !!!!!!!

Has anyone had any luck getting their hard earned back from these leeches ??

Which 'Acai burn' was it - there seem to be a number of companies promoting similar products

As you say, I imagine your money is gone - assuming your girlfriend actually agreed to the £120 charge (otherwise you can report it as an unauthorised charge, I'd have thought?) As far as the refund goes, you can ask I guess. Not sure I like your chances - but if you don't ask you won't get...

Are the company in the UK, and/or do they advertise in UK? If so, you could report them to Trading Standards and ASA - assuming the claims they have made (online and in adverts) are problematic. I doubt this will get your money back - might help stop them catching others, though.

Hi - its the main one ACAI BURN TM if you look in the terms and cons.(sic) its got a lovely little clause -

Membership. You hereby authorize AcaiBurn MaxTM (or its partners, affiliates and/or agents) to charge your Active Credit Card all such fees associated with Membership on a monthly basis. You acknowledge and agree that AcaiBurn MaxTM will not obtain additional authorization from you for each installment of Monthly Fees charged to your Active Credit Card. All Monthly Fees will appear on your Active Credit Card bill as "Internet Access Fee and Membership."

    I just got this
    Hello f****ngcrooks ,
Based on your goals of moving from 1 lbs to 900 lbs, your height of 7 ' 11 " and the fact you are 74 years of age, you seem like the perfect candidate for one of our remaining weight loss packages with 14-day Trial period. However due to the small number of trials we have left to hand out, there’s just a few short questions we’d like to ask before having a full month’s supply (that's 60 capsules!) rushed to your door.

    Height: 7 ft. 11 in.
    Age: 74
    Current Weight: 1 lbs
    Goal Weight: 900 lbs

I think you simply need to give your partner a slap and prevent her from having any control of money in the future.

You are spoilt for choice as far as complaints go e.g

    http://www.complaintsboard.com/complaints/acai-burn-c152821.html

It seems its all in the USA so trading standards are out. Those trying to cancel get charged for cancelling.

I would simply cancel and bin the card... and still never leave her alone with money again, scams don't get much more obvious than this.

To be fair, it seems surprisingly easy for people to be drawn into these things...

It's a US company, then. You could ask for a refund, I guess...but suspect your money is gone. You might also drop an e-mail to complain to the FDA about their tactics - be surprised if anything can be done, but it won't hurt.

Not a lot of help to you I know, but thanks for posting this as info for others. Appreciate the your partner got conned by this but us women are so concerned with weight etc that sometimes the "too good to be true" magna goes straight out the window!!
Dishonest gits, let's hope their dishonesty gets around and they make nothing but a big pile of stock they can't shift!
I am not a financial expert and I am not perfect but purrleeaassse don't be mean to me if I express an opinion that may not be quite what you thought. :p
