Paying for statements without bank account?

I am trying to get a list of charges applied to my RBS account which is now closed and they have written back asking for a £5 cheque. The problem is i cant get a bank account so can i pay this £5 in a branch? Also do their 40 days start again from when they recieve this £5?

Thanks in advance!

If you have done a SAR it is £10. Postal order should be fine payable to RBS Bank.

It is from the date that they acknowledge payment for the SAR.
