have a branch acc with abbey .recieved a email supposed to be off abbey saying a mr lucky john had paid money into my online acc in error & they where taking it back.dont have online banking with abbey .anyone know if this is a email scam

Yes.
There will be a link in the email, for example "If you wish to query this click HERE"
This will take you to a fake Abbey website and if you put your details in there they will be harvested.
Use your normal Abbey Logon site to check, the "https" one.0 -
I'm getting tons of these phishing emails through at the moment. Never click any of the links and make sure you delete the little blighters!0

I just had from from the Halifax today, again.
Banks asking for details by email are always fake. Another way to check is by running the cursor over the link to see the address at the bottom of the screen. It'll almost always be some long website address with no mention of the bank in it.0 -

Yep. My worry is my mum would open and fill out info if she starts getting these emails. I've told her not to, but it's still a worry.0
