I tried googling chilli "long dong" and tbh the kind of stuff it brings up isn't really made for polite conversation (unless you are in parts of Wales of course)

I would be very interested in seeing the resulting fruits from this, the OH says she would be very interested as well and would you please pm her where you bought it from.

Inside greenhouse if you have room, black plastic flower bucket sized pot.

Maybe they are having us on! I grow a lot of chillies too and have never heard of that one but I have noticed there are a lot of different chillies. I will just Google the name and see what happens. Meanwhile, just sow the seed indoors and then move to larger pots when big enough and keep in GH - this is what I do.

Perhaps they meant, Lombok, or Long Zhu?

Treat the plants in a similar way to tomatoes. These will do better in a greenhouse or indoors.

The roots like to be fairly compact so transplant them into growing pots in stages i.e. move them into the pot the next size up rather than transplanting from a seed tray to a 10 litre bucket! A soil-based compost is best to give the plant stability, but you could get away with a peat-based multi-purpose compost.

Pinch out the tops and stake the plants when they get to about 6-8 inches tall. This will encourage side shoots and form a stockier plant.

Feed weekly with tomato feed (rich in potash) once the flowers form.

As the chillis ripen on the plant they will turn from green to red. The red ones are supposedly hotter, but in many cases the green ones can be just as fiery :o.

In our climate, chillis are usually treated as annuals and will die at the end of the fruiting season. If you are careful however they may overwinter indoors and fruit the following year.
