Paris with a 3 year old

Looking for ideas from you guys as we are going to Paris for a day at Disneyland Paris in two weeks time but will have an afternoon and evening in Paris itself the day before :j:j. My son will almost be 4 and we want to have FUN in Paris rather than the normal tourist spots ie not the cathedral or the Louvre. I have found the Cite de Sciences which looks cool but looking for more suggestions. He won't like the Eiffel tower as will be too tall for him!

We are staying v nr the Moulin Rouge so would also welcome recommendations for a restaurant for our evening meal that won't break the bank. Will be doing sandwiches etc on the train so will want something hot for dinner rather than more baguettes etc.

Thanks in advance!

A boat trip on the Seine (Batobus is a good one), boating (where you have a sail boat and stick) on the lake in the Tuileries or Luxembourg gardens, ice creams at Berthillon on the Ile St Louis, boats swings in the Jardins de Luxembourg, the funiculaire at Sacre Coeur, eating crepes (all over the place), Palais Royale with the Buren Columns to play on and the fountains, the sculpture park along the banks of the Seine (along from St Michel towards jardin des Plantes), the park behind Notre Dame, many carousels to try, the Parc Andre Citroen with a balloon ride if you wish, the Coulee Verte, enormous waffles (gaufres) I could go on and on... If you are going in half term remember that French school kids are not on holiday so less activities are laid on. We visited the Cit! Des Sciences/ enfants once out of French school holidays and there was a distinct lack of play sessions for children and we were unable to make the most of the visit. Great park nearby though, bamboo gardens and there is a submarine you can visit which is good. Could the Montparnasse tower be less daunting for your son, great lift ride to the top and I think he is free? If you need any further details on any of these let me know and I'll see if I can help.
    I'm going too...

That is wonderful. Thank you for taking so much time to respond. Any ideas on restaurants as am very aware that the euro is so much more expensive now:eek:

Don't know how suitable it would be for your child but this place sounds to be well worth a visit, judging from the reviews, and it's only about 1.1km from where you will be staying.

I would recommend Leon de Bruxelles if you are mussels and chips fans. I know it's a chain but it is consistent and quality is good, there is also a kids menu for smaller portions and cheaper prices. There is also a coupon for 10 Euros off your meal on the site (for 2 people or more). Could not find an english version but if you need help with translation let me know! The ones at Clichy (metro Place de Clichy) and Opera (metro Opera) seem to be nearest to where you are....?

Hi chivers - if you do a board search on Paris you'll find past threads with useful information on things to do in Paris :)

THanks so much but I have an allergy to shellfish (prawns mainly) so stay away from seafood....

When I was little (and it was rather some time ago) my parents were trying to entertain me on a trip to Paris. My father dared me to smack the bottoms of as many statues as possible. The hours flew by. I think entertainment for kids may have come on since the 70s, mind you.:D
Yeah, whatever. I'm a grown up, I can take it...

Oh dear - the mussels and chips restaurant to the person with a seafood allergy...... Crepe restaurants tend to be quite consistent / cheap/ appealing to all tastes - great washed down with a bowl of cider or 2
