Blackpool trip

Hi I am looking for a bit of advice. I am planning to take my wife and 2 children to Blackpool this summer for 4 nights. I just wanted to find comfortable accommodation, close to the beach, not too expensive and with a parking space. It been about 10 years since I have been to Blackpool so what would be the best thing to do there? Thank in advance.

Hi, when I go to Blackpool I always stay at The Norbreck Castle. It's a few miles from Blackpool centre but the facilites there make up for the slight inconvenience. Free swimming pool, free cinema, a games room and a small arcade, plus entertainment every night geared towards families in the summer. There's always good deals to be had there, but it can be hit and miss as wether to book and pay early for a big discount or wait for late offers. I got a mail last week offering me a family room for 4 full board monday to friday for £150 for the next half term.

Have you thought about travelodge ? We stayed in the one opposite the football ground in the South shore area and was value for money. Ok its not right next door to the beach but its only 10/15 min walk to the seafront.
We are planning on staying in a flat when we go next time and have found a one right on the front, with parking and very reasonably priced. Weve not stayed here so it will be a 1st time for us but the location is perfect. Its here : http://www.adelphiflats.fsnet.co.uk/2nd.index.htm
I would check reviews for Norbreck Castle before booking, Ive seen some pretty bad reviews :cool:0 -
I just want to find is one room for me and my wife and my children who are aged 6 and 3. I don't want to travel too far from the main attractions.0

I always stay at the Langroyd Hotel, just a short walk from South Pier and Pleasure Beach, I'd highly recommend it.
If you are after apartments the Aleda is meant to be really nice: http://www.aledaholidayflatsblackpool.co.uk/
Remember with hotels the closer you get to the centre of Blackpool the more noise you are likely to get from stag and hen parties.0 -
Unrelated but there is a distinct lack of decent eateries in Blackpool.
One that i can recommend is the Sunam Tandoori on Redbank Road. Not your usual dark indian restaurant. Theyve been there years. Great, light airy decor, food cooked tradionally without shovel fulls of dye/addatives. Great service, very clean, polit staff.0 -

hiya,
id go for the travellodge just next to the pleasure beach,
if you get a family room it will have a double bed for you - a pull out sofa bed for your kids,
the hotel is across the road from the beach, pier, the swimming place if ur kids like swimming,
pleasure beach for on the night is a couple of mins walk away,
down the side streets for the nik nak shops,
the hotel has bar and serves food -- nice pizza`s!
have fun

We stayed at the South Shore Travelodge (at football stadium) last year, it is a little walk to the centre, etc but was fine for us. The car park is £5 per day but plenty of spaces to be had. We only paid £116 for 4 nights in July, so was really cheap aswell. Think the breakfast was about £15 for 4 of us (kids eat free with adult) but wasn't upto much but plenty other places to eat.
The South Prom Travelodge wasn't open when we were there but the location looks really good but not sure if they have parking spaces or not.
Blackpool itself has really gone down hill, just looks really shabby and rundown, loads of places boarded up. We found nothing to do at night, the pleasure beach shut at 6.30 even the piers (rides, stalls, shops, etc) all closed up really early aswell and this was in JULY. We couldn't get near the beach as loads of work was going on (think it was some kind of flood provention) maybe it has improved since last year but we used to love going to Blackpool but after last year I won't be rushing back. I'm not trying to put you off but just be warned it's not like it used to be.0 -
There are a few parking places on site, but mainly blue badge, at £6 per night. There is free on road parking outside but you might have to fight for it, and a pay car park right next door. The South Prom Travelodge wasn't open when we were there but the location looks really good but not sure if they have parking spaces or not.0 -
Travel Lodges in Blackpool are, in my opinion, in the busiest worse areas of the town, likely to suffer from noise etc. I think you'd be better off at North Shore or Bispham area all fairly close to the beach and walkable to the town along the promenade. There are loads of nice B & B's there or hotels if you have the budget. Norbreck Castle although it has a huge car park is probably too far out for what you've asked for.
The central parts of the town can be a bit tacky and frankly the shopping isn't up to much. If it's raining I believe you can get day tickets to the Tower, there's a sea life centre & a Dr Who exhibition on the promenade. 3 Piers to choose from. Blackpool has a lovely zoo and Stanley Park is really nice & free! The Pleasure Beach now charge just to walk round it. Have you checked out the Blackpool tourism website? The lights don't start 'til the end of August and are best seen mid week from a tram.
Hope this helps!0
