TomTom no maps, help!!

I have just bought the Tom Tom One V3. I connected it to the computer and updated it, but now when I turn it on it just says 'no maps available'.
I have tried searching their web site, but found no useful information. Can anyone help me fix it

is this your first time turning it on for use? if so does it gather its position from the satellites?

i know for a fact that this can take up to an hour first time, and it cannot tell you where you are if it doesnt know where it is!

Can you check if you are receiving a satellite signal? Mine won't work in the house at all, could that be the problem

This probably means that either the update to the maps has failed, or the updater has put the map data in the wrong place.
